Police managed to rescue an Adivasi girl last night in Arunachal Pradesh, who had been allegedly sold by her uncle around six years back.

Superintendent of Police, Biswanath district, Rakesh Roshan informed media persons today that one Pooja Lohar (17), of Bedeti under Behali police station was sold to a suspected human trafficker at Lakhimpur by her maternal uncle Babool Lohar and later, that trafficker handed over the girl to an Arunachali person, who took her forcefully to an interior place along Indo-China border, Taxing in Upper Subansiri district.

However, one Rajiv Bhuyan from Assam came to know about her a few days back while he had visited that place in search of a job and Bhuyan made it viral in the social media. Many social organisations including the AASA and AATSA searched out her family members at Bedeti and an FIR was filed at the Behali police station. Subsequently, a police team was sent to Arunachal Pradesh and they rescued the girl with the help of Arunachal police last night. Babool Lohar was arrested today.
