Assam Bans Roadside Flood Relief Collections Through Donation Boxes and QR Codes

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has directed strict action against unauthorised roadside collections being carried out in the name of flood relief, as the state continues to battle the impact of devastating floods.

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has instructed the Assam Police to stop people from collecting donations from the public by placing donation boxes or displaying QR codes at various roadside locations without proper authorisation.

The directive comes amid concerns that some individuals or groups may misuse public sympathy during the flood crisis to collect funds through unofficial channels.

The Chief Minister has asked the police administration to ensure that such activities are prevented and that necessary action is taken against those found violating the instructions.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious while contributing to flood relief efforts and support only verified organisations and authorised initiatives working for affected communities.
