GUWAHATI: A 36-year-old girl from Lakhimpur, Assam succumbed to COVID19 on Wednesday at AIIMS in New Delhi.

Sania Deori passed away at the trauma centre of AIIMS. Deori belonged to Narayanpur in Lakhimpur. Seven days ago she showed symptoms of COVID19.

Singhajit Deori who assisted her during the treatment said she was first admitted to two private hospitals due to the unavailability of beds in a government hospital. Both private hospitals failed to conduct the required tests. She was admitted to AIIMS only on Monday.

She was tested positive, however, the virus’s infection had spread by then in her respiratory tract. She was declared dead this evening.

Singhajit said Sania did not suffer from any illness but died due to medical negligence at both the private hospitals. Her family is currently seeking help from the Assam state government to recover her body.
