Ayushman Gold Card, Relief Cheques, and Forest Land Titles Distributed in Chirang

Chirang, July 20: In a significant welfare-oriented initiative, Assam Cabinet Minister for Handloom & Textiles, Sericulture, Soil Conservation, and Welfare of Bodoland Department—and Guardian Minister of Chirang—Shri Urkhao Gwra Brahma, ceremonially handed over an Ayushman Bharat Gold Card to Padma Shri awardee Sarbeswar Basumatary during a programme held at the District Commissioner’s Conference Hall in Kajalgaon, Chirang.

The event also marked the distribution of cheques to four beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, Assam. In addition, 40 Anganwadi workers received smartphones as part of a broader initiative aimed at equipping 1,029 workers across the district with digital tools to streamline service delivery.

Furthering the government’s commitment to forest rights and land security, Certificates of Title under the Forest Rights Act, 2006, were formally distributed to 14 individuals. A total of 5,131 beneficiaries in the district are eligible under this provision.

The programme was attended by Bijni MLA Shri Ajoy Kumar Roy, Sidli MLA Shri Nirmal Kumar Brahma, BTC Executive Member Shri Dhananjay Basumatary, Chirang Deputy Commissioner Shri Jatin Bora, and other senior officials and dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Brahma reaffirmed the government’s dedication to inclusive development through healthcare access, land rights empowerment, and technological support for grassroots workers.
