A shocking incident was reported from Barpeta Nepali Basti, Baksa where a man allegedly married seven women in different intervals of time in recent years. One of his wives has placed a complaint against him which led him to be caught by the police.
According to reports, Bhojraj Dorji aka Raju married seven women one after another by tempting them, he formed secret affairs with them and married the women one after the other. However, he would torture and physically abuse his wives asking for dowry. Unable to pay the dowry led six of his wives to return to their paternal homes.
However, a few months ago, the accused married another woman and started physically abusing her.
Whilst she was pregnant he hit her with a bamboo stick thereafter the neighbors reached his house after listening to the crying sound of his wife and rescued the woman.
The wife filed an FIR against him, acting on that the police arrested the accused with the help of the locals as he was in the run.
