GUWAHATI: In a heartening initiative aimed at supporting families rebuilding their lives after the devastating floods in Assam, popular YouTuber Bikash Chetry and the Sewa Foundation team have completed the construction of a house for a flood-affected family.
The newly constructed home was inaugurated on the occasion of Independence Day, marking a significant new beginning for the beneficiary family that had suffered losses during the floods.
Bikash Chetry has been actively involved in relief and rehabilitation efforts since the floods affected several parts of Assam. From distributing food and essential supplies to extending financial and housing assistance, he has been working at different levels to support people struggling to recover from the disaster.
As part of his wider relief initiative, Chetry had earlier raised nearly ₹8 lakh through public contributions to assist flood-affected families. The funds have been utilised to provide housing support, food and essential household items to people who lost their homes and belongings in the floods.
Besides the funds raised through public contributions, Chetry has also contributed from his personal earnings towards relief efforts. His team has distributed food and other basic necessities across several flood-affected areas, reaching families in need during the difficult period following the floods.
The completion and inauguration of the new house on Independence Day adds another significant chapter to these relief efforts. For the beneficiary family, the occasion marked not only the beginning of life in a new home but also a renewed sense of hope after a period of hardship.
The initiative by Bikash Chetry and the Sewa Foundation highlights how community participation and individual efforts can play an important role in helping disaster-affected families move from immediate relief towards long-term recovery.
