Zeme Hill Riders Extend Flood Relief Support to Affected Families in Sivasagar

GUWAHATI: As Assam continues to face the devastating impact of floods, individuals, organisations and communities from different walks of life are stepping forward to support affected families.

Joining the relief efforts is Zeme Hill Riders, a biking community with members from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland, headquartered in Haflong, Dima Hasao.

Four members of the group recently travelled to Sivasagar to reach out to flood-affected families and extend relief assistance.

The team comprised Chief Dikam Pame, founders Asau Pame and Kiram Pame, and Gracy Newme. During their visit, the group distributed cash assistance along with essential daily-use items among people affected by the floods.

For Zeme Hill Riders, however, the initiative was about more than simply providing relief.

The biking community said its journeys are not limited to riding from one destination to another. The members believe their passion for riding can also be used to reach people in distress and stand beside them during difficult times.

After witnessing the severe flood situation in Upper Assam, particularly in Sivasagar, the group decided that it could not remain a mere spectator to the crisis.

The riders said their initiative was driven by a belief in brotherhood and humanity, which they believe must transcend religion, caste, community and other social boundaries.

According to the group, the situation in the areas they visited remains concerning, with many flood-affected families still facing difficulties and requiring urgent assistance.

For Zeme Hill Riders, the relief journey was therefore not just another ride. It was an effort to strengthen the spirit of solidarity and demonstrate how communities can come together during times of crisis.

Their message is simple: they ride together, stand together and serve together — because humanity comes first.
