BSF personnel tests positive in Meghalaya

A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel has tested positive for COVID-19 after his return from home in Bihar, to the BSF Meghalaya Frontier Headquarters here.

According to officials, the BSF personnel had returned on June 23. He is currently asymptomatic. “One Armed Forces Personnel who came from Bihar has tested positive for COVID19 in Shillong. Person is under quarantine,” Chief Minister Conrad Sangma tweeted.

The BSF trooper is now admitted to the isolation ward of the BSF hospital. His contacts are being traced. However, he has not mingled with civilians, officials said. This is the first positive case of COVID-19 detected among paramilitary forces in Meghalaya.

With this, the total active cases in Meghalaya has now risen to five. Forty-two persons have already recovered from the viral disease and one person had died.
