Art & Quiz competition on the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” held

The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Guwahati, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, today celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga with a vibrant programme held at the Guwahati Refinery Higher Secondary School. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and a series of engaging activities, aimed at promoting the importance of yoga in daily life.

The programme, which drew an audience of over 400 students, featured a photo exhibition with 25 panels showcasing the profound benefits of yoga. The initiative was designed to raise awareness among students and the public about yoga’s potential for physical, mental and spiritual well-being.

The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Nrityacharya Shri Jatin Goswami, Padma Bhushan Awardee 2025, who lit the ceremonial lamp. In his address, Shri Goswami remarked, “Yoga is a union of the mind, body and soul. It is a timeless gift that aligns our inner energies with the universe. I believe that if I had practiced yoga earlier in life, I would have been fitter and more balanced. Today, the wisdom of yoga is more relevant than ever. With the government’s unwavering focus on yoga, I urge everyone to embrace it as an integral part of their daily lives.”

Shri Kripa Shankar Yadav, Additional Director General, NE Zone, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, also graced the occasion. Highlighting the essence of yoga, he said, “Yoga is not just a practice; it is a way of life that fosters harmony within ourselves and with the world around us. Let us make yoga a daily habit to achieve holistic health and peace.”

The event also saw the presence of Smt. Kabita Sarma, Councillor, Shri Manoj Nath, Councillorand Smt. Minakshi Devi, Principal of the school, who lent their support to this meaningful celebration.

The day began with the Common Yoga Protocol session, in which officials from CBC and PIB Guwahati, teachers and students of the Guwahati Refinery Higher Secondary School participated with enthusiasm.

To encourage the students, art and quiz competitions on the theme of yoga were organized as part of the programme. The winners were felicitated with awards and certificates, motivating them to embrace the values of yoga.
