A 20-year-old woman from Guwahati, who went missing while returning from Andhra Pradesh by train, has been found dead beside a railway track in Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh.

The deceased has been identified as Himashree Boro, a resident of Chapaidang near Bonda in Guwahati and a student of B. Borooah College. She had travelled to Visakhapatnam on September 30 as part of a dance troupe from Assam to participate in a dance programme.

Himashree had boarded the Dibrugarh-Kanyakumari Vivek Express for her return journey to Guwahati. Her family said they were in regular contact with her and last spoke to her on October 6. Her phone subsequently became unreachable, prompting the family to report her missing to the railway authorities and police.

According to reports, Himashree had spoken to a friend during the train journey and reportedly said that some men were bullying and misbehaving with her before the call was disconnected.

After the train reached Guwahati, railway authorities found two bags and documents believed to belong to Himashree in the S2 coach. Her whereabouts, however, remained unknown.

Her body was later recovered near the railway track at Tekkalipuram in Srikakulam district. Railway police informed her family and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.

The exact cause and sequence of events leading to her death remain unclear. There are also allegations that she may have been thrown from the moving train, but the claim has not been independently established.

Railway police have reportedly collected available footage and other evidence as part of the investigation. The circumstances surrounding Himashree’s disappearance and death are now under investigation.
