CISF detects two suspected illegal Bangladeshi nationals at Guwahati Airport
AZARA, June 30: Two passengers suspected to be illegal immigrants from Bangladesh were intercepted at Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport (LGBIA) on Tuesday while attempting to board a flight to Mumbai.
The passengers, identified as Kavita Saha alias Mafuza Aktar Lima and Rana Saha alias Rana Molla, had reported at Terminal-2 to board Akasa Air flight QP-1142 to Mumbai.
During pre-boarding document verification, personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) found discrepancies in the Aadhaar cards and other travel documents produced by the passengers. On being questioned, the duo was unable to correctly state their date of birth and residential address as mentioned on their Aadhaar cards.
During further interrogation, both passengers allegedly admitted that they had travelled from Dhaka, Bangladesh, and also produced Bangladeshi identity cards.
In view of the discrepancies in their identity documents and their inability to satisfactorily establish their identity, the CISF suspected them to be illegal immigrants and denied them permission to travel.
Further legal action was initiated by the concerned authorities.
