Dibrugarh Teen Found in Tinsukia After Alleged Abduction During Morning Walk
Dibrugarh, June 9: An 18-year-old girl from Assam’s Dibrugarh district was rescued from a train coach at Tinsukia Railway Station on Monday, hours after she allegedly went missing during a morning walk, prompting a police investigation into a suspected abduction case.
According to family members, the teenager had left her residence in the Shantipara area along P.N. Road at around 5:30 a.m. with her mother for a routine morning walk. While her mother returned home shortly afterwards, the girl failed to return, triggering concern among relatives.
The family alleged that unknown individuals abducted the teenager after rendering her unconscious using an unidentified substance. Following her disappearance, they launched a search operation and informed Dibrugarh Police, who subsequently initiated an investigation.
In a dramatic turn of events, the girl was later found inside a train coach at Tinsukia Railway Station. Reports indicate that a passenger aboard the Awadh Assam Express noticed a suspicious sack lying inside a coach. Upon checking, the passenger allegedly discovered an unconscious girl inside and immediately alerted railway and local police personnel.
Police teams rushed to the spot, rescued the teenager and shifted her for medical examination. After regaining consciousness, she reportedly contacted her family and informed them of her whereabouts.
Speaking about the incident, the girl claimed that she was walking along the road when an unidentified person approached her from behind and applied an unknown substance near her nose. She said she lost consciousness shortly afterwards and regained awareness only after reaching Tinsukia Railway Station.
The victim further stated that she was unable to identify the individual as she was approached from behind. She also alleged that her mouth had been covered, preventing her from calling for help.
Family members said the teenager had no known disputes or personal issues that could provide immediate clues regarding the motive behind the incident. They added that they were unable to suspect anyone in connection with the case.
The incident has raised several questions, particularly regarding how the girl was allegedly transported from Dibrugarh to Tinsukia and left inside a train coach without attracting attention. Investigators are also examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction, which reportedly occurred on a public road during early morning hours.
Dibrugarh Police have launched a detailed investigation and are examining CCTV footage from multiple locations. Authorities are working to establish the sequence of events, identify those responsible and determine the motive behind the alleged abduction.
