Director Shiv Rawail discusses the casting of ‘The Railway Men’

The makers of the upcoming web series ‘The Railway Men’ recently revealed the official trailer of the series, which received a positive response from fans. This series, directed by Shiv Rawail, features R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu Sharma, and Babil Khan in the lead roles.

Inspired by true stories and set against the backdrop of the tragic Bhopal Gas Leak, one of the world’s worst industrial disasters, ‘The Railway Men’ weaves a gripping narrative. It delves into the extraordinary efforts made by Indian Railways employees who go above and beyond their duty to save lives during the city’s darkest hours.

This series marks Shiv Rawail’s directorial debut. Discussing ‘The Railway Men,’ he mentioned, “In 2018, the journey of ‘The Railway Men’ started with a simple one-page concept. When our writer Aayush, whom I met through a mutual acquaintance, shared this compelling concept with me, I was deeply moved and inspired to tell this story.”

Regarding the cast of the series, he said, “Assembling the cast for ‘The Railway Men’ was a wonderful experience, and collaborating with such versatile talent was truly amazing. Kay Kay Menon, who is admired by everyone, was the obvious choice for our rule-following station master with a haunting past. He put his heart and soul into the role. Maddy sir, with his enigmatic charm and commanding presence, added great brilliance. It was Adi Chopra’s idea to cast him, and I wholeheartedly agreed.”

“Divyenndu, our choice for the constable, brought the complexity and depth the character required. When he read the script, he was deeply moved, and his commitment was unquestionable. Babil Khan, with his untapped innocence, was a joy to work with. He invested his heart in the role. I also want to express my gratitude to the incredible Shanoo Sharma, who cast such exceptional actors that significantly enhanced the show,” he added.

The 4-episode series ‘The Railway Men,’ produced by YRF Entertainment, will premiere on Netflix on November 18.
