Greater Guwahati Buddhist Association Holds Candlelight March for Myanmar and Thailand Earthquake Victims

Guwahati, March 29: The Greater Guwahati Buddhist Association (GGBA) organized a solemn candlelight march to pay tribute to the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar and Thailand on March 28.

The 7.7-magnitude earthquake, with its epicenter near Mandalay, has caused significant loss of life and widespread destruction across both nations. The extent of the damage is still being assessed, but early reports indicate severe casualties and infrastructure collapse.

Expressing grief over the tragedy, GGBA General Secretary Abhijit Chaudhury stated, “We are deeply saddened by this calamity and extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. This candlelight march is our way of honoring their memory and praying for peace to the departed souls.”

The event saw participation from community members who gathered to offer prayers and stand in solidarity with the affected regions.
