Guwahati Airport celebrates Bhogali Bihu

PALASBARI,Jan 16: The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati has been celebrating Magh Bihu this year like the last year. A beautiful Maghbihu wishgates has been constructed outside the departure hall and inside the arrival hall to greet and welcome the departing and arriving passengers.

It Is worth mentioning that a beautiful Bhelaghar, an epitome of this festival has been constructed inside the departure hall where replicas of Grandmothers making pitha in traditional way, grinding jalpan in traditional way, operating Udaal etc. are displayed for the passengers . There are also local flavors such as sesame cakes, sesame ladoos, Teel pitha etc. on display. Passengers can enter into the Bhelaghar and take tour of the entire installation. There are two doors in the Bhelaghar, one is entry and other one is exit gate. On the other hand , a traditional Mejighar has been set up in the arrival hall. There is an artifciial fire set up inside the meji to create the real flavour of the Meji. Samples of doing ‘Agni puja’ is also displayed inside the Meji.
The passengers has been greeted with a packet of pitha & laddu today at the airport.
