The PWD department and the State forest department have jointly cut down the trees in the Assam Secretariat premises.
As per the reports, more than 20 trees were cut down so far by the concerned departments. Reports also suggested that the trees have been cut down so that people could have a better view of the newly constructed building of the secretariat. Sources informed that the deforestation initiative in the secretariat has been taken up as per a ‘beautification project’.
