Hillang Yajik Creates History at South Asian Bodybuilding Championship

First Woman from Arunachal to Win International Gold in Physique Sports

ITANAGAR, June 14:
Hillang Yajik from Arunachal Pradesh etched her name in history by securing one Gold and one Silver medal for India at the 15th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2025, held in Thimphu, Bhutan from June 11 to 15. She has become the first female athlete from Arunachal to clinch a Gold medal at the international level in physique sports.

In an official statement, Arunachal Bodybuilding Association (ABA) President Nabam Tuna lauded Yajik’s groundbreaking achievement, emphasizing its significance not just for the state but also for India’s standing in the global bodybuilding arena. The championship, hosted by the Bhutan Bodybuilding Association, saw participation from several South Asian nations and was sanctioned by the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (WBPF) and the Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (ABPF).

Tuna further stated that Yajik’s success will inspire a new generation of athletes from the Northeast to pursue competitive sports at the international level.
