IMD Issues Heavy Rain and Thunderstorm Warning for Northeast India

GUWAHATI – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy to very heavy rainfall advisory for several Northeastern states this Friday, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

The alert also includes warnings for scattered thunderstorms, lightning, and squally winds, with potential localized disruptions expected across the region. Residents have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions as the weather conditions continue to evolve.

According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon is likely to advance further into northeast India and adjoining parts of north and central India over the next two to three days. This development is expected to enhance rainfall activity in the region.
