Indian Awaz Foundation Launches Ambulance Service in Sribhumi with SBI CSR Support

Initiative aims to strengthen emergency healthcare access in rural areas of the Barak Valley

Sribhumi, March 6: In a significant step toward improving emergency healthcare services in the Barak Valley, the Indian Awaz Foundation (IAF), with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) support from the State Bank of India (SBI), launched an ambulance service for the people of Sribhumi district on Thursday.

The ambulance was formally flagged off at the SBI Karimganj Main Branch in the presence of officials from the district administration, healthcare sector, and representatives of the foundation. The initiative has been introduced to enhance emergency medical transportation, particularly benefiting patients from rural and economically disadvantaged communities who often face difficulties in reaching hospitals during critical situations.

Among those present at the event were Moon Gogoi, Chief Executive Officer of Zila Parishad, Sribhumi; Assistant Commissioner Mehebubul Hassan; Joint Director of Health & Family Welfare Services Matindra Sutradhar; District Agriculture Officer Safiqul Islam; and Md. Nazim Ahmed, Founder and Director of the Indian Awaz Foundation.

The Hon’ble Member of Parliament Kripanath Mallah also conveyed his best wishes and support for the initiative through his representatives, appreciating the efforts made to strengthen emergency healthcare services in the district.

Founded in 2021 by Md. Nazim Ahmed, the Indian Awaz Foundation has been actively involved in various social initiatives across the Barak Valley. The organization first gained attention through the Barak Awards, a platform that recognized individuals and contributors from different sectors of society for their inspiring work in the region.

Over the years, the foundation has expanded its activities through community outreach programmes, awareness campaigns, and relief efforts. During the Assam floods, the organization carried out several relief operations under its “Aid for Assam” initiative, providing assistance and essential supplies to affected communities.

Through its continuous engagement in Sribhumi and surrounding districts, the foundation identified the urgent need for reliable emergency transportation services, which often becomes a major challenge for patients in remote areas.

With the support of SBI under its CSR programme, the ambulance service has now been introduced to address this gap and ensure quicker response during medical emergencies.

Both the State Bank of India and the Indian Awaz Foundation expressed their commitment to continue collaborating on similar initiatives in the future, focusing on community welfare and development across the region.
