Indian Railway introduce ‘baby-berth’ to support mothers

In a joint effort of Lucknow and Delhi divisions, Northern railways have introduced foldable ‘baby berth’ to facilitate mothers traveling with their infants.

The feature has been introduced on the occasion of Mother’s day.

The feature has been introduced as a pilot project in AC three-tier (194129/C) B4 coach of superfast express Lucknow Mail 12230 on berths number 12 and 60.

Speaking to TOI, divisional mechanical engineer of Lucknow division, Atul Singh said, “The baby berth is attached with the main lower berth, but it’s foldable as it has hinges. When not in use, it can be secured with a stopper. The berth is very easy to set up for the baby.”
