Japanese Encephalitis Cases Rise to 178 in Assam, 9 Deaths Reported

Guwahati | July 4: The Japanese Encephalitis (JE) outbreak in Assam has intensified, with the total number of confirmed cases rising to 178 and 9 deaths reported, as per the latest data from the state health department.

District-wise JE Case Tally:

  • Kamrup and Nalbari: 16 cases each
  • Barpeta and Darrang: 14 cases each
  • Kamrup (Metro): 12 cases
  • Nagaon: 11 cases
  • Jorhat and Sivasagar: 10 cases each
  • Charaideo, Goalpara, Dhemaji, Morigaon: 5 cases each
  • Bajali, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, Golaghat, East Karbi Anglong, Lakhimpur: 4 cases each
  • Udalguri, Chirang: 3 cases each
  • Biswanath, Hojai, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh: 2 cases each
  • Cachar, Kokrajhar, Majuli, Sonitpur, South Salmara, West Karbi Anglong: 1 case each

Health authorities have ramped up surveillance and awareness measures, urging the public to take preventive steps, especially in high-risk zones.
