RANCHI: A group of armed men abducted and gang-raped a student of a prestigious law university in Ranchi late on Tuesday. In raids conducted through Wednesday, police arrested 12 persons who have confessed to the crime.

The new police lines is also close to the area.
Police sources said the 25-year-old woman was chatting with her friend near a bus stop at Sangrampur village, 4km from the campus, when two men arrived on a bike and overpowered them at gunpoint and forcefully took the girl with them.
After driving some distance, when the bike ran out of petrol, the two called a few of their friends and told them to get a car. They then drove to a nearby brick kiln, where they took turns to rape the woman. Police sources said the men then called some more of their friends to the spot and they too raped her.
The survivor somehow managed to reach the Kanke police station on Wednesday morning in “a bad physical condition” and lodged an FIR. Police immediately swung into action and arrested the 12 persons, all of them are between 18 and 30 years of age.(TOI)
