Meghalaya and Mizoram Emerge Champions at the IBFF Northeast & East Zonal Blind Football Championship ’25
Guwahati, 28 May 2025: The IBFF Northeast & East Zonal Blind Football Championship 2025, jointly organised by the Young Indians (Yi) Guwahati Chapter and the Indian Blind Football Federation (IBFF), concluded today at the Sarusajai Sports Complex after three days of intense matches and inspiring performances.
The tournament brought together blind football teams from across the Northeast and East zones, celebrating athleticism, inclusion, and the extraordinary spirit of the players.
In the Women’s Final, Team Mizoram claimed victory over Team Assam with a score of 3-0, showing exceptional skill and teamwork.
In the Men’s Final, Team Meghalaya delivered a commanding performance, defeating Team Arunachal Pradesh 8-1 to secure the championship.
Shri D.K. Mittal, Executive Director & Regional Head, Sports Authority of India, Guwahati, graced the closing ceremony as the Chief Guest and awarded medals and trophies to the winners and runners-up. He commended the players and organisers for promoting inclusive sports and empowering visually impaired athletes.
The tournament was spearheaded by Ronak Khetawat, Chair, Yi Guwahati, who along with her team, organised the championship with great hope and enthusiasm.
“We believed in creating a space where ability triumphs over disability. Witnessing these athletes in action was nothing short of inspirational,” said Ronak Khetawat.
The event marked a significant step forward in accessible sports and reinforced Yi Guwahati’s ongoing commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and community impact.
