Meghalaya to Push for Retransfer of Block I & II from Assam
Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong reaffirmed that resolving the Meghalaya-Assam boundary dispute, particularly the retransfer of Block I and II from Karbi Anglong, remains a top priority.
Tynsong, who chairs Meghalaya’s regional boundary committee, said the state is ready for a joint inspection of the disputed Ri Bhoi–Karbi Anglong border and is awaiting Assam’s confirmation.
Historically, Block I and II were part of United Khasi Jaintia Hills, transferred to Assam in the 1950s for “administrative convenience.”
Tynsong aims to conduct the field visit by late September, weather permitting.
