NGOs step in to provide relief in Hojai

Hojai district has witnessed massive flooding due to incessant rainfall. To safeguard themselves, people had to leave their house and take shelter at relief camps. In order to help those stranded people, the Hojai district team of Assam Chamber of Commerce distributed relief among the flood affected people. The team provided essential food items among 350 people at the relief camps at Amtola, Jugijan Station and Siliguri Basti under Hojai district on Tuesday.

Talking to this correspondent, Ashok Kejriwal, general secretary, Assam Chamber of Commerce, Hojai district unit said, “We have provided 350 food packets till now and our mission to help the people will go on.”

He added, “We believe, the service to mankind is the supreme service one can do.”

On the other hand, Sri Sri Krishna Mandir Helping Hands located at the new market in Hojai has also provided flood relief to marooned people.

“We have distributed 120 food packets among the affected people at Singri Basti, Komrakata areas within Hojai district,” Amit Kumar Gupta, president, Sri Sri Krishna Mandir Helping Hands said.

He said volunteers Shyam Gupta, Ranjit Gupta, Ram Gupta and many others have helped during this distribution. Also, Marwari Panchayat and Marwari Mahila Sammelan, Hojai district unit have also distributed flood relief at different relief camps in Hojai district.
