Skill Development Aligned with Jobs Can Transform Youth Potential: Governor at SAMRIDHA ASSAM 2025 Conclave

The SAMRIDHA ASSAM 2025: The Assam Impact Conclave, organised by Jana Kalyan Trust in association with NEDFi, Guwahati, was held at the NEDFi Auditorium, Dispur, bringing together senior government officials, development finance institutions, corporate leaders and grassroots organisations to deliberate on skill, livelihood and sustainable models in Assam.
Inaugurating the conclave as Chief Guest, the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Shri Laxman Prasad Acharya, observed that India’s youth population, once viewed as a liability, has now emerged as a valuable asset. He emphasised that skill development aligned with employability, entrepreneurship and market needs can deliver transformative outcomes, while appreciating Jana Kalyan Trust’s sustained grassroots efforts in community empowerment.
The conclave was attended by Shri Loken Das, Chief General Manager, NABARD Assam; Shri Murugesan Ramasamy, Director, NIRD & PR (NER); and Shri Lemli Loyi, Executive Director, NEDFi, as Guests of Honour. Addressing the gathering, Shri Loken Das highlighted that sustainable rural transformation is achievable through skills, entrepreneurship and institutional convergence, underscoring the importance of collaborative platforms like SAMRIDHA ASSAM. Shri Lemli Loyi recalled NEDFi’s long-standing association with Jana Kalyan Trust and expressed confidence in strengthening partnerships to achieve shared regional development objectives.
Earlier, Dr. Arup Jyoti Kalita, Convenor, SAMRIDHA ASSAM 2025, outlined the conclave’s objectives, including showcasing 15 years of impact through the launch of Swabalambi, forging partnerships, scaling livelihood models and driving evidence-based policy insights. Mr. Harsh Arya, Chairman, Jana Kalyan Trust, welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries.
A short film highlighted Jana Kalyan Trust’s 15-year journey across Assam, Meghalaya and Bihar. The Hon’ble Governor released “SWABALAMBI,” the Trust’s annual impact compendium documenting 20,000 lives impacted and outcomes aligned with CSR priorities and the SDGs.
A key highlight was the conferment of the “JKT Assam Samridha Award” on Shri Parshwa Jyoti Handique for his exemplary contribution to rural development. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri Basavananda Goswami, Secretary, Jana Kalyan Trust.
