Jalukbari: Guwahati-born model Sweety Gayari has been selected as a finalist for Miss Grand India 2025, marking a historic moment as the first Bodo girl to reach this prestigious stage. A proud representative of Assam and the Bodoland region, Sweety steps into the spotlight not just as a contestant, but as a voice for inclusivity, regional identity, and cultural pride.

Currently working with Indian Railways, Sweety is also a professional model with years of experience in the industry. She began her modeling journey at the age of 16, participating in numerous shows across India and earning the title of MIHM Miss India 2019 in Delhi. Alongside her modeling career, she holds a degree in History from Pragjyotish College and is pursuing Theatre Arts through IGNOU.

Sweety’s personal story is one of resilience and inner strength. After the untimely loss of her father, Late Sumal Gayari — a national-level footballer from Bodoland — she faced deep personal struggles, including a period of depression. But it was her selection in Miss Grand India 2025 that reignited her drive. For Sweety, this was not just a personal win; it was proof that determination and patience can silence doubts and defy limitations.

Coming from a sports-inclined family, her early path was expected to follow athletic lines. However, her consistent success in the modeling space gradually won over her family’s support. Today, she credits her mother Sangita Gayari and uncle Dr. Chitta Ranjan Boruah for standing by her through every stage of her journey.

What sets her apart in this competition is her commitment to representing the often-overlooked narratives of the Northeast. As a proud Bodo woman, Sweety sees the platform as a chance to challenge long-standing biases, especially those related to appearance and cultural misunderstanding. Her mission is to bring Northeast India’s rich traditions and stories to the national and global stage.

Outside the ramp, Sweety is also the founder of Crown & Glow, a fashion rental initiative that promotes sustainable and accessible style. She remains active in community-focused campaigns aimed at expanding youth participation in culture, fashion, and public discourse.

With powerful roots and a clear vision, Sweety Gayari is poised not just to compete — but to represent a region, a culture, and a message that the national stage needs to hear.
