TMPK Demands Justice After Mising Youth Murdered in Arunachal Pradesh

On June 20, the Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK), a prominent student organization representing the Mising community, demanded swift justice and compensation for the brutal murder of 22-year-old Prabash Doley, a laborer from Assam’s Dhemaji district who was allegedly hacked to death with a machete at a construction site in Arunachal Pradesh.

Doley had recently migrated to the Upper Siang district of Arunachal for contract-based labor work. According to fellow workers, a confrontation reportedly escalated late at night, leading to the fatal attack. Local sources suggest the incident may be linked to a personal dispute, though TMPK insists there could be deeper ethnic undertones involved, calling it not an isolated case but part of a worrying trend against Assamese workers in bordering regions.

TMPK leaders staged a protest in Dhemaji, demanding ₹10 lakh compensation to Doley’s family, a government job for a dependent, and the immediate arrest of the culprits. They also urged the Assam government to take up the matter diplomatically with Arunachal authorities and ensure the safety of Assamese workers across the border.

The Arunachal Pradesh police have filed an FIR and formed a special investigation team. Meanwhile, the Assam government has assured all necessary support to the bereaved family and promised to monitor the case closely.
