Tourist Footfall in North-Eastern Region in 2025

Guwahati: During 2025, tourism across the North-Eastern Region (NER) of India varied significantly among the eight states in terms of both domestic and foreign visits:

• Assam led the region by a massive margin in domestic tourism, recording 9,055,943 Domestic Tourist Visits (DTVs) alongside 33,858 Foreign Tourist Visits (FTVs).

• Sikkim was the premier destination for international travelers, welcoming the highest number of foreign visitors at 68,992 FTVs, while also securing 1,654,838 DTVs.

• Meghalaya drew substantial national interest, registering 1,848,239 DTVs and 7,116 FTVs.

• Arunachal Pradesh hosted 913,383 domestic visitors and 4,582 foreign tourists.

• Mizoram saw 828,223 DTVs and a notable international turnout of 11,484 FTVs.

• Tripura attracted 681,103 domestic tourists and recorded a strong foreign presence with 27,320 FTVs.

• Nagaland recorded 127,428 DTVs and 5,425 FTVs.

• Manipur logged the lowest numbers in the region, receiving 25,281 DTVs and 2,892 FTVs.
