Tripura: Pregnant woman allegedly molested by fake doctors

GUWAHATI: A pregnant lady was allegedly molested by two doctors with fake identity at a hospital in Kailasaharat Unakoti district of Tripura on Sunday (December 27).

The accused has been identified as Raju Das (29) and Abu Das (35) from Bhagabannagar area of the nearby locality of the district hospital.

The incident took place on Sunday evening when the two fake doctors visited her in the labour room to check her. when they tried to execute something objectionable and uncanny, the victim resisted and started shouting for help, meanwhile, the duo locked the room from inside and allegedly molested her.

The accused managed to escape from the hospital before her family members reached the spot.

According to the report, the pregnant lady was admitted in the district hospital on Sunday morning.

Officer-in-charge Rinki Debbarma at Kailasahar Women Police Station said that.

A complaint was lodged by the victim’s husband at Kailasahar Women Police Station on Sunday evening and a case was registered under Section 354(B) and 417 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) against both the accused. Police arrested both the accused on Monday and forwarded them to court.

However, the health department had also initiated a separate inquiry into the incident and how outsiders enter the hospital with the fake identity of the doctor.

Earlier this year in November A pregnant woman who went to get her ultrasound done has accused the doctor of molestation at Vidya Ultrasound Centre in Dadri area of Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the report, the 26-year-old woman told police that the doctor identified as Rajbir Nagar touched her inappropriately with a bad intention during the medical procedure.

Later the accused doctor has been booked under Sections 354 and 323 of the Indian penal Code.
