AIUDF MLA takes oath in Sanskrit in Assam

GUWAHATI: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA Karim Uddin Barbhuiya caught the attention of all by taking oath in Sanskrit on Thursday at Assam Legislative Assembly.

Barbhuiya, the first-time MLA from Sonai in Cachar district took the oath in the name of Allah in the Sanskrit language.

The first session of 15th Assam Legislative Assembly began from Thursday with pro-tem speaker Phani Bhushan Choudhury administering the oath to newly elected representatives of the assembly. The MLAs took oath in different languages including Assamese, English, Bengali, Boro, Nepali and Hindi.

Along with Karim Uddin Barbhuiya, BJP MLAs Jayanta Malla Baruah, Jitu Goswami, Suman Haripriya, Dr Amiya Kumar Bhuyan, Ramkrishna Ghosh, Manab Deka and Bidya Sing Engleng also took oath in Sanskirt.
