What started as a pandemic lockdown exercise to never go back to the nine to seven working hours has now turned into a joyful entrepreneurship journey for Jyoti Bikash Borgohain. During the Bohag Bihu of 2020 when the nation was under the pandemic’s fear, Borgohain’s interaction with his mother who stays at Dibrugarh changed everything. He found out that his mother, who stays alone, had no way of getting the day to day essentials at her doorsteps without getting exposed to the virus. This shook Borgohain and he desperately felt a need to help his mother and people like her. He started thinking about a project and after over a year of hard work and passion Basket Online was born in April 2021.
“My intention was to provide prompt home delivery services of all the essential items to the people of Guwahati. At present the service are available in the city and people can expect home delivery services of grocery & essentials like, fruits, vegetables, meat, and fish etc. in just 90 minutes. The services start from 8 in the morning to 8 at night,” said Borgohain.
On being asked what is so different about his startup, Borgohain pointed out, “We work on a Multi Vendor Model to replace the trip to local shops for our consumers by bringing merchants (and their inventory) online, so that a customer can easily place his requirement sitting comfortably at home.”
“We are also planning to launch home delivery services of medicine, bakery, breakfast packages, pet items etc. soon. We want to make most of the household needs available under a single umbrella through Basket Online,” informed Borgohain.
Borgohain is happy that Basket Online now has over four thousand happy customers and in two months of their launch were able to successfully deliver more than four thousand deliveries.
Also, not only has Borgohain turned into an entrepreneur but has provided employment opportunities to 15 other people who closely work with him in Basket Online.
Basket online is planning to launch and place its footprint to all the major cities of Assam and all the State Capitals of North East by the end of this year 2021, said Jyoti Bikash Borgohain.
