Guwahati, Dec 5: Celebrations echoed in Assam as three formidable women athletes secured their places on the podium at the National Women’s Weightlifting Championship in Kolkata, drawing accolades from Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu on December 5.
Ditimani Sonowal emerged victorious, clinching gold in both the 64 kg senior and junior categories. Konkana Deka Baruah displayed remarkable prowess, earning a silver medal in the 64 kg youth category. Another shining star, Tilochana Phukan, added to the state’s glory by securing a silver medal in the 59 kg youth category.
Minister Ranoj Pegu, expressing his jubilation, took to platform X to extend his heartfelt congratulations. He conveyed, “I am proud to join the people of Assam & Dhemaji in celebrating their remarkable achievement. My best wishes accompany them in their future endeavors.”
