Guwahati, April 27, 2024 – In a vibrant display of color and civic consciousness, Kendriya Vidyalaya IOC Noonmati hosted a poster competition themed ‘Chunao ka Parv, Desh ka Garv’ (The Festival of Elections, The Pride of the Country) this Saturday. The event, part of the school’s co-curricular activities, aimed at bolstering voting awareness among students.
The competition saw enthusiastic participation from a multitude of students, each contributing creatively to the theme of electoral awareness. Shri Kaushlesh Kumar, TGT AE of the Vidyalaya, played a pivotal role in preparing and guiding the participants for the event.
During the competition, Smt. Dolly Das, the Principal of the Vidyalaya, emphasized the importance of such events in shaping well-informed citizens. “It’s imperative that our students remain abreast of their civic duties and rights. This competition not only fosters creativity but also instills a sense of responsibility towards nation-building,” she remarked.
Mrs. Madhumita Deb, the CCA Coordinator who was present during the event, highlighted how the New Education Policy (NEP) 2010 advocates for art integration in educational curriculums to promote experiential learning. “Through artistic expressions in such competitions, students can relate more deeply to the subjects at hand and develop a holistic understanding,” she added.
One notable entry was from Aditya Malik, a sixth grader, whose poster featured themes of security, education, and a call to action with slogans like ‘Vote for Better India’, ‘Vote for Security’, and ‘Vote for Education’. His work vividly captured the essence of the event’s theme, showcasing how young minds perceive the significant act of voting.
Highlighting the broader impact of the initiative, Shri Kaushlesh Kumar said, “The goal is to extend the message beyond the school gates to the elders in our community, using the universal language of art.” He also revealed plans for an upcoming rally where students will showcase their artworks to the public, further spreading their message about the importance of voting.
The event at KV IOC Noonmati not only celebrated the artistic talents of its students but also reinforced the vital role of education in nurturing informed and active citizens, ready to contribute to the democratic processes of the country.
