Ajit Kumar Dey elected as new deputy chairman of KAAC

Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) of Howraghat, Ajit Kumar Dey has been elected unopposed as the deputy chairman of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council.
MAC Dey filed his nomination papers before the joint secretary, KAAC in charge Legislative, Birsing Engti on Thursday. The chairman, KAAC, Raju Tisso during the session held on Friday declared MAC, Dey elected unopposed for the post of deputy chairman. Dey will be the 27th deputy chairman of KAAC.
On being elected as deputy chairman, KAAC, the chief executive member (CEM), KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang; executive members and MACs greeted Dey for becoming the deputy chairman and wish him good luck in taking the new responsibility in the KAAC.
Dey will be the 9th deputy chairman of KAAC from among the non-schedule tribe communities.
After assuming the post of deputy chairman, KAAC, Dey said, “I thank all the members in this August House for having faith in me and for electing me as the deputy chairman of KAAC. The BJP party has given me a ticket to contest the KAAC election from Howraghat MAC constituency held last June. The people, irrespective of tribes and communities, language and religion supported me and made me win the election. I thank the voters of Howgrahat. My special thanks go to chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma; CEM, KAAC, Tuliram Ronghang; president, BJP East Karbi Anglong District Committee, Dhansing Teron and Mines and Minerals minister, Nandita Garlosa for their support during the election.”
The newly elected deputy chairman informed the House that he will discharge his duty as deputy chairman with utmost responsibility while convening the session in the House.
CEM while congratulating Dey for becoming the deputy chairman, KAAC said a person like Dey is very calm and responsible.
CEM said, “I congratulate Dey for winning the post of deputy chairman, KAAC and wish him luck for his new responsibility. We have high hopes that under him, all members of the House will get equal treatment and opportunity to express his/her thoughts and ideas.”
