Assam Budget 2026: ₹77,353-Crore Green Energy Investment to Transform Power Sector
GUWAHATI, July 10: Assam Finance Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, while presenting the Assam Budget 2026, announced a ₹77,353-crore investment plan to transform the state’s power sector under the initiative “Shaktir Atmanirbharta, Seuj Bikashor Jatra – Harnessing Green Energy for a Sustainable Future.”
The minister said the investment will be made across hydro, solar, thermal, and energy storage projects, making it the largest investment pipeline in Assam’s power sector history.
He added that the ambitious programme will be funded through a combination of the State’s own resources, Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Externally Aided Projects, and Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).
The initiative is aimed at strengthening Assam’s energy infrastructure, increasing clean energy generation, and ensuring long-term energy security while supporting sustainable economic growth.
