Assam Budget 2026: ₹77,353-Crore Green Energy Push Announced Under ‘Shaktir Atmanirbharta, Seuj Bikashor Jatra’

GUWAHATI, July 10: Assam Finance Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, while presenting the Assam Budget 2026, announced a ₹77,353-crore investment plan for the state’s power sector under the initiative “Shaktir Atmanirbharta, Seuj Bikashor Jatra – Harnessing Green Energy for a Sustainable Future.”

The minister said Assam’s power sector is entering a transformational phase, with investments planned across hydro, solar, thermal, and energy storage projects. He described it as the largest investment pipeline in the state’s history.

According to Mallabaruah, the ambitious programme will be financed through a combination of the State’s own resources, Centrally Sponsored Schemes, Externally Aided Projects, and Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).

The initiative aims to strengthen Assam’s energy infrastructure, promote clean and sustainable power generation, and support the state’s long-term economic growth.
