Assam Budget 2026: Government Targets 2 Lakh More Jobs Under ‘Nijuktir Natun Diganta

GUWAHATI, July 10: Assam Finance Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, while presenting the Assam Budget 2026, announced that the state government is aiming to create an additional 2 lakh employment opportunities under the initiative “Nijuktir Natun Diganta.”

Highlighting the government’s previous achievements, Mallabaruah said that while the BJP-led government had promised one lakh government jobs during its last term, it exceeded that target by providing over 1.64 lakh appointments in the past five years.

To achieve the new employment target, the government has constituted a dedicated Task Force under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to prepare a comprehensive roadmap for implementation.
