Assam Govt to Provide Land Rights to 1.14 Lakh More Tea Garden Families This Financial Year
Survey Underway in 250 Tea Gardens Across the State
GUWAHATI, July 10: The Assam Government has announced that survey work has already begun in 250 Tea Gardens as part of its initiative to provide legal land rights to tea garden families across the State.
The government aims to ensure land rights for an additional 1.14 lakh tea garden families during the current financial year, marking another significant step towards securing land ownership for one of Assam’s largest communities.
3.5 Lakh Tea Garden Families to Receive Land Titles in Five Years
The government has also outlined a long-term roadmap to provide legal land titles to all 3.5 lakh tea garden families in Assam over the next five years.
The initiative is expected to strengthen land security, improve access to government welfare schemes, and enhance the socio-economic well-being of tea garden communities by granting them legal ownership of the land they occupy.
The ongoing survey is a key step in the process, laying the groundwork for issuing land titles and ensuring that eligible families receive formal ownership rights in a phased manner.
