Assam Rifles Rescues Abducted Woman Along Indo-Myanmar Border
Assam Rifles successfully secured the safe release of an abducted Tangkhul woman, Olina Ningshen, in Manipur’s Kamjong district near the Indo-Myanmar border on May 9, 2026.
The woman was allegedly abducted by KNA(B) and VVEZ cadres from Namlee village. Assam Rifles, along with intelligence agencies and local stakeholders, carried out coordinated efforts leading to her safe recovery near Z Choro.
The force also rescued 15 civilians, including women and children, from violence-hit areas and provided humanitarian assistance. During follow-up operations, one armed KNA(B) cadre was apprehended with weapons and ammunition.
Assam Rifles said security operations are continuing in sensitive areas of Kamjong to maintain peace and protect civilians.
