Guwahati: Assam’s Mrigashree Baruah has made the Northeast proud by securing the position of First Runner-Up at the prestigious Miss Grand India 2026 pageant held at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi.

 

Representing Assam on the national stage, Mrigashree impressed judges and audiences alike with her confidence, elegance, and strong performance throughout the competition. Her achievement marked one of the standout moments for Northeast India at this year’s pageant finale.

 

The title of Miss Grand India 2026 was won by Tamil Nadu’s Lakshita Thilagaraj, while Meghalaya’s Dr. Tanvi Marak secured the Second Runner-Up position, making it a remarkable year for contestants from the Northeast region.

 

According to reports, around 29 contestants from across India participated in multiple rounds, including talent, swimsuit, national costume, and gala presentations.

 

Apart from her pageant journey, Mrigashree Baruah is known for her work as an anchor and her background in Political Science and legal studies. She has also previously earned recognition as a runner-up at Miss Northeast India 2019.

 

Her success at Miss Grand India 2026 has sparked celebrations across Assam, with many praising her for bringing national recognition to the state and inspiring aspiring models and pageant contestants from the Northeast.
