Binbag-Backed Sustainability Initiative Adds New Dimension to Trivia Fest 2026 in Haflong

Haflong, May 23, 2026: Trivia Fest 2026 – Fourth Edition concluded today, in Haflong with enthusiastic participation from students, educators, and youth from different parts of the region.

Organised by the HELP Society, the three-day event featured multiple literary competitions, interactive sessions & deliberations, cultural activities, and youth-oriented programmes aimed at encouraging knowledge-sharing and holistic development.

Held across venues including Vivekananda Vidyalaya High School, the festival also placed a strong emphasis on social responsibility and environmental awareness alongside academic engagement. One of the key highlights this year was the integration of an e-waste collection and awareness initiative, encouraging participants and attendees to bring discarded electronic items for responsible recycling and disposal.

The festival’s sustainability and e-waste awareness initiative was carried out in collaboration with recycling company Binbag, with the drive focusing on encouraging responsible disposal practices and greater awareness around electronic waste management among young participants and attendees. Organisers said the initiative witnessed encouraging public response, with participants contributing e-waste materials during the event as part of the larger awareness campaign.

Mr. Achitra Borgohain, Founder and CEO of Binbag, said community-driven initiatives involving young people play an important role in strengthening environmental awareness.

“Conversations around e-waste management and sustainability need greater public participation and awareness, especially among youth. Since 2014, we have been working in the recycling and waste management sector with a focus on transforming discarded electronics into reusable resources,” Borgohain said.

He added, “Events like Trivia Fest create meaningful opportunities to connect communities with environmental responsibility in an engaging way”. Notably, BinBag collaborates with businesses and institutions across industries to promote responsible recycling, reuse, and sustainable waste management practices aimed at reducing environmental impact.

Organisers of the Trivia Fest 2026 stated the inclusion of sustainability-focused activities added a new dimension to the festival and reflected growing awareness among young people on issues related to environment, recycling, and responsible living.
