BTC Tables ₹843 Cr Budget for FY 2025-26; House Sees Divergent Views
The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) commenced its Budget Session on Wednesday at the Legislative Council in Kokrajhar, where Hon’ble CEM Pramod Boro presented the annual budget of ₹843 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal year, encompassing 40 departments.
The session, chaired by BTC Speaker Katiram Boro, will resume on Thursday for detailed discussions and the likely passage of the budget.

Among departmental allocations, the Transformation Department has been proposed the highest outlay at ₹126.26 crore, followed by ₹105.05 crore for Education and ₹98.63 crore for Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes.
BTC Spokesperson Gautam Das lauded the budget as progressive, while Opposition Leader Derhasat Basumatary criticised it for lacking clarity on key welfare measures for the BTR populace.

A more pointed debate is anticipated in the next sitting, with both sides gearing up to defend their positions.
