Heavy Rainfall Warning: Heavy Rain, Flood Risk Expected Over Next 3 Days
GUWAHATI, July 11: People across Assam have been asked to stay cautious as the state may witness heavy rainfall and thunderstorms starting July 10.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) released the advisory after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast widespread rain in Guwahati and many other districts.
Weather Update
Officials said the southwest monsoon and other weather conditions will bring rain accompanied by lightning.
Guwahati, along with southern and central Assam, is expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall over the coming 2–3 days.
ASDMA warned that continuous rain could cause waterlogging, flash floods, and traffic disruptions.
Hilly and landslide-prone areas may also face risks.
District officials are keeping a close watch on the weather. Emergency response teams have been asked to stay ready to deal with any situation.
The authority has urged residents to take safety measures and stay updated with weather reports.
Travellers have been advised to avoid non-essential trips during heavy downpours. People living in low-lying areas and near slopes should be especially careful and watch for signs of flooding or soil movement.
Residents were also told to follow instructions from local authorities to stay safe.
