Jayanta Malla Baruah Extends ₹5 Lakh Ex-Gratia to Families of Kokrajhar Incident Victims

Following the official programme in Kokrajhar, Assam Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah visited Karigaon to personally meet the families of two individuals who tragically lost their lives in a recent incident.

The minister formally handed over one-time ex-gratia assistance of ₹5 lakh each on behalf of the Assam Government to the bereaved families. Financial assistance was provided to Daimuti Basumatary, wife of late Sikhwna Jwhwlao Bismit , at her parental home, and to Fate Murmu, father of late Sunil Murmu, at his residence.

During his visit, Jayanta Malla Baruah also inspected the relief camps set up at Karigaon and interacted with affected families to assess the situation on the ground.

As part of the relief measures, ₹1 lakh each was provided to four injured persons, while ₹50,000 each was extended to 44 families whose homes were affected by the incident. These included 29 Santhal families and 15 Bodo families.

The minister reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to standing by affected families during times of crisis and ensuring timely relief, rehabilitation, and restoration of normalcy in the region.
