Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday stated that the number of tables that a file has to travel will be henceforth reduced, thereby improving speed and efficiency.

For proposals costing up to Rs. 2 crore to Rs. 5 crore a standing finance committee will do the approval. The Chief Secretary will chair the meeting and file need not be sent to the finance department. The meeting will be held every Friday.
For projects worth Rs. 5 crore to Rs. 100 crore the finance minister will chair the standing finance committee where department commissioners will be member secretary. This committee will grant the final approval and it will be held every Thursday.
