Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Longding district police in Arunachal Pradesh, successfully apprehended three operatives associated with the Yung Aung faction of the NSCN(K) over the course of the last two days. During the joint operation conducted on June 17 and 18 in the vicinity of Wakka and Khanu villages near the Indo-Myanmar border, a significant quantity of drugs and cash were seized from the arrested individuals.
Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the operation was initiated based on credible information regarding the presence of suspected NSCN-K (YA) operatives near Wakka town. The authorities discovered heroin-based narcotic substances valued at approximately Rs 7 lakh in possession of the arrested individuals.
Following their arrest, a case has been registered, and the three operatives have been handed over to the district police for further investigation and interrogation.
There are speculations suggesting that the drug trade is intricately linked to a larger narco-terror network, which is believed to be fueling the growing insurgency in the region. The authorities remain committed to dismantling such networks and ensuring the security and well-being of the local communities.
