Road connectivity to Dima Hasao restored

1 min read

Relief and rescue operations are continuing in the flood-hit Dima Hasao district. An Indian Airforce chopper landed in Haflong carrying 20 NDRF personnel and 1.5 tonnes of equipment and essentials. The remaining stranded people are also being rescued by the Air Force.

The government and airforce along NDRF are running daily operations to rescue stranded people from Dima Hasao, which is one of the worst-hit districts in Assam by landslides this year. Food and other essentials are being air-dropped to Haflong almost daily to ensure that a shortage of essentials takes place among the people there.

With communications to several places in Dima Hasao still snapped, authorities are taking extra effort to ensure relief and rescue operations continue.

Meanwhile, road communication in parts of Dima Hasao is slowly being restored. Most roads that had been blocked by landslides over the last few days have been cleared and are seeing the flow of traffic. Authorities are working round the clock to ensure faster restoration of road links.
