Tea workers staged a massive protest at the garden factory premises in Margherita Dirock tea garden this morning. Temporary Tea workers posted in the garden staged the protest against the authorities.
The temporary workers alleged that the garden authorities staged protests in several dawas including not making permanent posts for a long time, spending more time in labor against 8 hours of labor as per labor law, not providing proper Hazira, and providing hot water required by the workers. The agitated workers had to deploy police and CRPF in the garden for control.
The situation is currently under control though the garden environment remains tense. The Tea workers protest brought all the work in the Dirock tea garden to a complete standstill.
