TVK Legislators Elect Joseph Vijay as Leader, Pay Tribute to Annadurai

In a symbolic beginning to its legislative journey, leaders of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) paid homage to Dravidian stalwart C. N. Annadurai, acknowledging his enduring influence on Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.

Party chief Joseph Vijay led the tribute, underscoring the movement’s ideological roots and its connection to the legacy of Dravidian politics.

Later in the day, newly elected TVK legislators convened at the party headquarters in Panaiyur, near Chennai, for a crucial meeting to shape the party’s legislative direction.

During the meeting, the MLAs unanimously elected Vijay as the leader of the TVK legislative party, formalising his role as the face of the party inside the Assembly. The decision marks a significant milestone for the actor-turned-politician, who has rapidly transitioned from cinema to a central role in state politics.

The development signals TVK’s intent to establish a structured legislative presence while aligning itself with the ideological legacy of leaders like Annadurai.
